Unable to backup files to 80 minute CD-R disc

Specs: Windows 7
have windows put in disc ran for a bit then told me to put in another disc used a 80 minute CD_R

It sounds like you are trying to put too much on a single CDr. 80 min. refers to audio play back time, if you are using it for data, you need to look at the other number and it will be like 750MB (around there somewhere, I forget what is typical). You will probably find that that is not much room if you are doing a general back up. You will need at least a DVDr (probably more than one) which will be like 4.7GB (750MB = 0.75GB) and possibly much more. These days most use a portable (or larger stand up) external hard drive for back ups and they are in the neighborhood of your hard drive in capacity and often more.

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.

If you are running Windows backup, then you are probably backing up the entire contents of your hard drive if you left the default options.
Even if you have selected only files, I'd like to be as sure of winning the lottery that you several GB's that need backing up. A couple of cd's won't come close to being of any use. DVD's don't cost much more then cd's.
