Trojan virus has damaged my laptop

November 28, 2010 at 14:33:13
Specs: Windows 7
ok, so my laptop is sony vaio vpceb24fx.
I ran malbytes, a free virus scan program, and it reported 3 trojan-infected files.
so i used the "remove" button and removed them all.
However, ever since i removed the files i have been getting problems on my laptop.
A day after the removal, my laptop seemed okay , but when i got on the internet, it got shut down.
Before it was shut down and restarted, the blue screen popped up saying that "shutting down to prevent damages". and when i restarted it, the same thing happened when i tried connecting to the internet. Same thing over and over for past 4days now. So i finally restored the system to factory condition. But when i did it, it required me to reinstall windows. Although that problem was resolved without doing anything, it still gets turned off almost less than 5 minutes after it gets turned on. so i'm pretty sure that it is not internet-related problem.

Check your power options, you may be running your system hotter and causing heat related shut downs. Choose energy saver profile and that should help. Make sure you hear the typical low sound of your cooling fan if you listen closely. Also check with msconfig to see if you now have unnecessary programs starting up with windows, which can also cause heat problems (uncheck what you definitely do not need, google if you are not sure). Shut down and remove the battery and make sure that the electrical contacts are clean (a soft pencil eraser can clean them, just make sure to remove any pieces left behind). Since you did a factory restore, you should probably update your drivers and do a windows update as well.

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.
If all else fails, read instructions.

if your machine is still under warranty, take it back and ask for an rma, FOLLOW ALL ADVICE In RESPONSE ONE. (OOPS CAPS) also download speedfan to monitor the temps on your machine, that way you can see if anything is getting too hot.
as a last resort and if you really think its due to a infection of the bios, you can flash the bios from cd or usb, using the flash method and newest bios update from the manufacturers website.
