Transfer files using a ROM

Specs: Windows 7 Premium, 1.794 GHz / 1982 MB
Is there freeware or software that will allow one to run it from a ROM (DVD/CD) so that you can transfer files (copy/paste) from one drive or partition to another drive for a Windows type computer?

It doesn't have to be copy/paste, it could be cut/paste as well to resolve my question.

If your Windows installation is functioning you don't need any third party program to move files. If you intend to move installed programs then that is a different story. That normally can't be done.

So, is your Windows installation working or not?

Explain why you require such a program. Is your intent to circumvent required passwords to get into Windows?

why not just use a thumb drive to transfer the files? Makes sense to me, or burn the files to cd or dvd, that should work too.

Some HELP in posting on plus free progs and instructions Cheers

I was using partition software to resize my Windows partition and for some reason, the operating system doesn't work.

I've never had good luck with using Windows Backup in the past and my thumbdrive recently died on me.

I created a secondary partition on the one drive for occasions such as this, but did not expect the partition software not to work as I have used it in the past and have had no problems. I use it for storage of files.

As for replacing the thumb drive, I don't want to and is there a specific version of Linux that I should check out?

You may be able to repair the original partition/s using testdisk. Read the help files completely before using for best results. Get testdisk at the link below.
