Specs: Windows 7
trying to reinstal from cd/driver but cant changeto boot drive as it times out in a flash is there any thing i can do just to get to dos prompt so i can formatt and reinstale windowss7

I doubt it is too fast. Try a ps/2 keyboard maybe.

Win7 is on a DVD not a CD, so make sure you have a DVD drive. Enter the BIOS & check the boot order. Make sure the DVD drive is listed 1st, if it's not, change the order & save. Then boot the system with the Win7 disc in the drive & watch for the prompt - "press any key to boot from DVD...".

Why do people try and install an modern Operating System like Windows 7 via and antiquated Operating System like MS-DOS.

As Rrider say, Windows 7 installed form the DVD, no need to have a DOS prompt or any other kind of prompt.

If you tap F8 as soon as the computer starts you should get a list of bootable dives, one of which should be you DVD Drive. Select that and it will boot from there
