Check to be sure that it is not simply turned off. A key combination of your Fn key and one of the function keys turns on the touchpad or turns it off.

Download touch pad driver form Toshiba's website and install. If it still does not respond, delete it from Device Manager and restart the machine. Windows will detect it and install it completely with the new driver.

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.

As very well suggested by “terii” and “Fingers”, I hope you must have tried both the steps and that should have fixed the issue. But if the issue still persists, then try the following in order:

1. Turn the computer off. Remove all the attachments and the battery. Press power button for 15 seconds. Replace power connection and battery. Start the computer and press F2 at the Toshiba splash screen to get into Setup. Press F9 to reset defaults. Press F10 to save changes and exit and answer “yes” to complete. The computer will restart automatically.
2. If that doesn't work, I will suggest you to do a System Restore back to a day when the touchpad was working.
3. If System Restore does not help, try uninstalling the touchpad driver and reboot your laptop:
• Click “START” and search for ""Device Manager"".
• Select “Device Manager” > “Mice and other pointing devices” > “right-click on Alps Pointing-device” > select “Uninstall”.
• After the driver uninstalls, reboot your computer. The Driver would get installed automatically.

Kindly revert and let me know for further clarifications.

Thanks & Regards
Debbie B
