Hi, I just found out that I can't burn my holiday videos using Windows DVD Maker. I tried searching for answers and tried this method, (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2619822). But I'm still stuck.

The DVD Maker will encode from 0.8% and jump straight to 99.0%. With a "Cannot Create DVD - Invalid Class String".

I checked the event viewer, it is 1001 and the error code is (-2147221005).

Please help. Thank you very much.

Is it a re-writeable DVD? If so try a DVD-R or DVD+R

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks

Hi Derek,
Thanks for the reply. I'm using TDK DVD+R. I'm able to burn them normally using Microsoft default program. I'm able to preview the videos in DVD Maker. But I just can't burn using DVD Maker.

OK, I just glanced at your post and wondered about the DVD's.

However, did you spot this in your travels (pasted from a website)?:
=================================

"Invalid class string" problem: It can be solved by repairing the DirectShow filters in the system. Some guys do this manually by editing the registry. But there is an easier solution: "Codec Tweak Tool" or "Filmerit". (The first one is one of the latest and can be used with Windows 7 without problems.)

Codec Tweak Tool (Version 4.9): http://www.codecguide.com/download_...

Filmerit: http://paul.glagla.free.fr/filmerit...

I can't vouch for the above but it fixed it for two people on there so I thought I'd pass
it on.

Just for info, on our forums if you just post links starting http etc and with no brackets, they become active.

Hi Derek,
Thank you for the assistance. I tried both. A little confused by Filmerit though. My problem is still there. :(

I'm about to go AWOL but a couple of things you could check:

Type dxdiag in search. Dxdiag.exe should show. When you double click it there should be some info about whether it is working.

Also look in Device Manager and make sure there are no error flags about.

Hope someone else picks this up. CU.
