Hi there! I have a 2 month old HP pavilion G series notebook laptop. Im not very good with computers but the one thing that keeps happeneing is everytime i have shut down my laptop and leaving it off for more than 5 hours say... everytime i start it back up (and i mean every single time) it does a system bios update. So I have to wait there for about 5 mins, it restarts itself and then it starts.... does anyone know what i can do to stop this? I know that HP sytem Bios are very tempermental and many people have had their laptops bricked by messing around with them, and i really dont want that to happen... any help will be appreciated!

Your best bet is to contact HP tech support....sounds like you have a defective laptop...nip it in the early stages and they will probably replace it.

Because it happens after a long delay it makes me wonder if the BIOS/CMOS battery is defective. Whatever, I agree with #1 - it makes no sense dabbling around inside a netbook if you purchased it only 2 months ago.

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks

Thanks so much guys! I was thinking that I might just have to bite the bullet and call HP to get it sent to them and get it sorted. Didn't really want to if I didn't have to because the cost to call them is so expensive, and for some reason I can't email them with my problem because it has to match the make, model ect and it just won't match my laptop on their website even though I'm all registerd with them. Guess I'll have to go easy on my spending this month with their rediculous call charges! Tha again so much for your help!

Sorry, you never said you were in the UK...I presumed USA...
http://www8.hp.com/uk/en/contact-hp...
I see you may have to pay some charges...that really sucks!

If you do buy lots of American products it may be best to have a phone service like MagicJack
http://www.ebay.com/itm/MAGICJACK-T...
or
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Magic-Jack-...

....you could just register it with a USA number and then use it to call the USA as a local call because it is internet based. The reason I suggest that is because I have friends in Germany that use it and make calls to loved ones daily in the US.

I also have one at home for all my long distance and ontother one to use when I travel to central and south america....it saved me tons of money in phone bills.
