Specs: windows XP pro, 1.8Mhz/512ram
laptop starts loading windows 7 and the blue window sore of comes up and it restarts i was able to get to the menu where you choose to load under safe mode and tried starting under safe mode but while starting it restarts again.there is no repair option unlike other hp models, and i have tried to restore to an older installation per say, my guess is to run chkdisc with a boot disc from DOS but when i get to DOS iv tried the command from c: chkdsk and also with /r and it wont work, open to all suggestions thanks always to this site and its members

I'd get any windows 7 dvd and try to use it's repair tools.

Why don't you contact the OEM and ask how you are supposed to recover the system?

Booting from a windows 7 dvd can let you test memory or use a linux cd to run memtest.

Run ESET & post the log please.

Why Would I Ever Need an Online Virus Scanner?
I already have an antivirus program installed, isn't that enough?
http://www.squidoo.com/the-best-fre...
Once onto a machine, malware can disable antivirus programs, prevent antimalware programs from downloading updates, or prevent a user from running antivirus scans or installing new antivirus software or malware removal tools. At this point even though you are aware the computer is infected, removal is very difficult.
How can I view the log file from ESET Online Scanner?

silverknight696, you are almost for certain infected, the job of infections is to stop any program that may clean them out, now you have to outsmart it.

Try running from Safe mode all your programs, start with ESET, it will download a file to your hard drive.

Now is a good time to backup your important files just in case it goes wonky again.

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks
