Start Menu icons changed to blank page icon

Specs: Microsoft Windows 70 Enterprise, 2.666 GHz / 4095 MB
While my wife was running Microsoft Office Outlook 2007 the icons for all programs pinned to the Taskbar (and on the start menu as well) turned into the blank page icon. Trying to use properties to change the icons back to their correct icons does not work. I can go through the process, but it doesn't change the display any.

This is a user specific problem, because the Guest user still displays all the icons correctly, but I am at a loss as to what now to try and concerns about the possibility of a worm or virus even though I run Microsoft's Essential Security and periodically scan with other virus scanners.
