Speed up Slow Win7 Starter notebook

August 10, 2011 at 05:40:47
Specs: Windows 7 starter, Intel(R) Atom CPU n450/1.0 gig
My computer is so slow! I used to run really fast until a couple of days ago. Now when i turn on my pc it takes a long time to start up and when it does load everything runs extremely slow. For example i click on google chrome and it will load it 10 mins later. I don't have many programs running at start up. everything else that is running came installed on factory settings. How can i fix this!?!

You have a Netbook, not a notebook. I doubt it ever ran fast but if you notice a change in speed then try the suggestions below.

Try booting into Windows safe mode with networking and download the two programs linked below. Use the cleaner module in Ccleaner slim first. If no improvement then run Malwarebytes. Both these programs can be used on a regular basis.

Also check Device Manager to verify there are no problems with your hardware.

i would suggest that try a system restore, to a date before it became slow, it usually the next step after a virus and malware scan..for me anyway.

i hate computers!
but cant help myself....

I tend to agree with response #2...you said it only slowed down a couple of days ago.
Then you may want to run Malwarebytes in a full scan:

fix all it finds
