Solved Sound in Windows7 skipping very annoying

Specs: Windows 7, Pent4 dual quad Q950@2.83GHz 4 gigs
When I view videos the sound skips does not make a difference which viewer I am using. What causes such nonsense? I recently added a new C-Media PCI soundboard that did not solve the problem. It must be a software problem. I don't know where to start to determine the cause. Anyone have a suggestion or two? TIA for your help. SrLoren

XpUsear4Real I believe the problem was solved when I went to Control Panel, Programs, and uninstalled Apple's QuickTime and the only two other Apple programs that were listed in the Programs list. I am sorry, I don't recall which ones they were but I think I was instructed to do it in the trouble shooting faq at Lynda.com. To the best of my recollection, I believe this was the solution. I have been on Lynda.com all afternoon and the sound is no longers skipping.

I want to thank all of you guys for your help. In the past I have been able to get solutions with your help...you guys peform a great service and you are the essence of what the internet should be about... education and getting more excitement out of live. THANKS AGAIN Loren Sr.

PS XpUser4Real....you have been here longer than most so keep up the good work.

XPUser4Real, you still hanging out in this forum? Thanks for your reply, but I asked the wrong question and hope you can guide me. Actually when I view movies on Lynda.com, the sound skips. It started over 3 weeks ago. It also skips when I view facebook clips that are emailed to me. I have tried Flash, QuickTime and Windows Media, all to no avail. After replacing my audio card the problem continues. Is there software that can help me figure out this problem or better yet, perhaps you can point me to a site that can help. Thanks again XPUser4Real.

Download & install CCleaner-Slim. Run it & remove everything it finds. Then run a full virus scan & malware scan from safe mode. Once that's done, use MSCONFIG to clean up your startup apps. You shouldn't have garbage software loading at startup & running in the background.

Yep, still here LOL....have you tried different browsers...I know you mentioned:
'When I view videos the sound skips does not make a difference which viewer I am using'
Also try upgrading Macromedia....I know you said you updated the flash player.

Are these all online clips or does it also happen with downloaded movies and attachments? (Movies, attachments you have downloaded to your hard drive)

I did what you suggested a couple of days ago. Cleaned out the Start-up programs, deleted temp files etc. It has not solved it so far. Thanks for your suggestions, I have to keep on looking for answers.

I just double checked msconfig and found that even after I disable the start-up programs and leave the probram, when I open it up again the programs are all checked to run again. Something is going on...maybe a virus not letting me disable startup programs. I will check out the web site mentioned above regarding msconfig. Thanks guys for your support.

Try this free utility...winpatrol and then set up the start-up items:
http://www.winpatrol.com/

Sounds like you may have some malware problems.
You can run a quick scan with malwarebytes and fix all it finds. Then run these 2 other fully working trials until they run clean:
1- trojan remover
2- hitman pro

"I used CC Cleaner, but do not know what slim is unless it is the free version"

Why would anyone pay for CCleaner? The Slim version is free & doesn't include spyware. Did you run the scans from safe mode as I recommended? Your system is most likely infected.

XpUser4Real, I may have spoken too soon. It is strange, QuickTime works good now but I went onto YouTube and it is a bit skippy again. It skips for a while then seems to settle down, but if I move my moust it starts skipping again. I don't need to move the mouse but I am concerned that this happens in YouTube. It is almost as if the temp buffer is loading up then getting relief but I can't figure how the mouse effects the sound. I will keep monitoring the behavior of the sound to see if there might be a clue to a fix. Again thanks for your help.

XpUser4Real, I am not physically going to YouTube, these are either emails sent or links from other sites. I am networking with wireless to my daughters computer and grand daughters laptop however. Thanks and sorry for not getting back to you sooner, I went to bed right after posting.
