SONY VAIO FRIED when liquid got on 1 key!

December 1, 2011 at 14:09:24
Specs: Windows 7, Intel Core i3
2011 model # VPCEB42FX, even with the $20.00 keypad cover I bought! It's less than a year old. WHY on earth would that happen & can I possibly attempt to fix this? Also, is there a special screw schematic to follow when opening this thing? Thanks so much-I cannot afford an expensive in shop repair, obviously. #(

"It's less than a year old."
Age has nothing to do with it, you got a conductive liquid inside your keyboard/laptop and it shorted out. Hopefully the liquid stopped at the keyboard and didn't go any deeper.

Look on the bottom of the laptop at the screw holes. Many times there will be a little keyboard symbol next to the screws that hold the keyboard on.

you can get a replacement keyboard here -
