S.M.A.R.T. is designed to detect upcoming failures in the hard disk drive. While it is possible that the hard disk drive may not fail for several months, it is still inevitable that the hard disk drive will fail. It is ok to continue to use the hard disk drive, however, its recommend that if you are still under warranty that you consider getting the drive replaced before your warranty runs out.

you could try the drive in another computer as a slave and run disk check and fix errors, this may fix any errors, but i doubt it.

can also enable / disable the S.M.A.R.T detection through their CMOS setup. usually pressing delete at startup will get into cmos

if you can disable smart, and it starts up, do an immediate backup of files and folders.
if its still under guarantee take it back now!
if not buy a new drive.

i hate computers!
but cant help myself....
