Solved Solve pc issues messages appeared and I need explanations

Specs: Windows 7
So the current went out (and it does that a lot) and when I restarted my computer 2 messages appeared,
one is "Windows update (important)"
and the second is "set up backup"
Now, I'm not familiar with dealing with inner stuff in the computer so I need explanations and I also need to know whether if I need to do anything specific.
Thanks in advance.

Even with those messages, does it go ahead and boot into windows normally? If so you can deal with installing the updates and making a backup at your leisure. Here's some info on backing up your files:

Yes, it boots normally. Thanks for the back up information
Regarding installing the updates, I wanted to know if they can in anyway harm the computer, because my old laptop had to go through a lot of updates and crashed in the end..:/

As long as you accept only the important updates you should be fine 98% to 99% of the time. Other updates you need to read to see if they are important to you but you are generally safe ignoring those.

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.
