Solved software dose not recognize dvd

Specs: Windows 7
dvd won't play using vlc or any dvd software on my dell insprion n4010 computer. Says vlc unable to open MRL'dvd:///D:/

If you installed the 64-bit version of VLC, uninstall it & replace with the 32-bit version.

I assume you mean movie DVD's?
Are data-DVD/CD's still readable?

Are there any warning symbols in Device Manager?
As above, see if it can read a data or program CD or DVD, if not then install the latest driver from the manufacture web site.
Also, don't skip the simplest solution to quirky problems and restart the computer.

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.
