I have a QWin fortran application that can generate & display about 1000 line drawings & surfaces on a Core2 XP in about 40 sec. The same program takes 120 sec on an i7 Windows 7 system. The computation time is about 6 sec on both machines, so the rest of the time is graphics. The XP system has an old & slow graphics card. The W7 has a new ATI 5770 & drivers (downloaded from AMD). The W7 ran the program with an older card also. My guess is that the W7 "color calibration" stuff is at least part of the slow down.
I forgot to say the W7 system is 64 bits. And, that the older W7 card also took 120 sec.
have you updated the Qwin fortran application to run with win 7?
it may be a 32 app that just doesnt want to run clean with win 7 x64..just a thoughthttp://www.downeu.com/f/fortran+for...

but cant help myself....
just compiled with a trial 64 bit version. It runs slightly slower ;-(
are the graphics slow with any other programs?
you may get better information from the qtran forum, as this seems to be software more than hardware related,i hate computers!
