sleep/hiber. working only 1st time after boot

June 22, 2010 at 13:21:47
Specs: Windows 7

On my Windows 7 installation, sleep and hibernate are working perfectly, but only 1 time !

After returning from sleep or hibernate mode, Windows 7 runs fine - but when entering sleep or hibernate mode, the screens turns black but the hard disk and fans keeps spinning. The screens goes off just like if it was going to sleep or hibernate, but that's all. And I can't turn the screen on at that stage, the only thing I can do is cut the power as it seems to freeze entering sleep/hibernate.

After a reboot, sleep/hibernate works again, but only one single time :-(

(Windows 7 on a Lenovo G530 notebook)

With pressing F8 and selecting the repair function, you can only repair a non-booting system. The choices are either 'startup repair' or reverting to a previous system restore point.

Finally I decided to do a an upgrade-repair-install (booting from CD and re-installing as an upgrade). Somehow it took very long (about 1h 50mins), but in the end it worked and now the problems with entering sleep & hibernate are solved.
