Setup Win 7 user Login Notification message

October 14, 2010 at 19:30:04
Specs: Windows 7 Home Premium, Intel Pentium Dual Core E2180 - 2GB RAM
I need info on how to set up a user logon notification message. This would be displayed immediately after the logon. The messages would be "Last Successful Login XX/YY/ZZZZ at aa:bb:cc" and "Last Unsuccessful Login XX/YY/ZZZZ at aa:bb:cc" Thanks for your help.

Why have you carbon-copied the same question asked in our Solaris Forum?

I don't believe Windows has this functionality built in.

If your company has a good Windows programmer, you could create a service that can receive Winlogon notifications. The programmer needs to be good, however, because bugs will cause BSODs. On the upside, a service should be able to read the Security Event Log, and determine the last successful/unsuccessful logon.

EDIT: Actually, Active Directory might give you all the information you're asking for. Assuming you don't need the IP of the bad passwords. And your DCs are Win2K3 or newer.

Thanks for the info. I have disabled the message without disabling the service.
