A huge amount of folks here use FF exclusively. Why don't you just state your problem and see what comes back to you?

And, some reason you didn't think of this site?

I see. It's improtant to stick to one thread as much as possible. If you'd let us know the suggestion from jefro didn't work, we could have picked it up from there.

system restore is really not an option, i have done a bunch of updates in the last 3 days when this happened..

i would rather fix this manually if i can and to learn for the future..

why can't i at least uninstall it?...........add/remove does not work, will not uninstall firefox browser...

Download FF and put it in a DIFFERENT folder. That should work for you. FF is extremely difficult to unload....I use it ONLY as an alternative if IE7 doesn't work. I really hate all the nag screens and always having to add addons, etc....LMAO...IE already has everything installed so you aren't constantly nagged....also, no links in e-mail, you have to MANUALLY make it a link.....
I stick to IE7 (not IE8...Too slow....really bogged down) and never have to wait for an update to install before the browser opens which FF does continuosly,
Some HELP in posting on plus free progs and instructions Cheers

You say all you had to do is mouse over the icon and it would open up. I seriously doubt that. Do you mean all you had to do is left click on it and it opens?

Have you tried making a new shortcut to FF and trying that?

ooops my bad....the one time left click a light touch was what opened my FF browser...

there is no making shortcuts for FF at will not allow me much...rather than leaving it as it is, my frustrating thing is to get it uninstalled....:(

my machine came with ie 8 so far so good the little that i used it seems to be fine..really should not complain...
on the other hand the habit for FF comes from the previous OS and where i was still with ie6...FF worked like a charm...on that machine....FF worked like a charm on Windows 7 64 bit as well until a few days ago...
you are right though, the add on's are and can get confusing....too bad they are making it so cumbersome...

thanks to all who take time to respond, i'm learning..
in the meantime keep the troubleshooting coming, i'm reading..

i get no errors just a complete lock, and firefox was still there......i..had to install a complete new add/remove program pro to get rid of it...

i did however manage to fix the problem and find a solution that manifested itself to my complete desktop icon left click..

it seems the thread was deleted (sigh).... someone might have benefited from it....and it was not what was suggested by kind posters....(oh well!)

thanks anyways!
