SD card is not detected

November 9, 2011 at 15:47:30
Specs: Windows 7 Professional 64bit, i7 2600K/16Gb
I have found an older thread with the same problem, but without a proper solution.
My SD-Card reader does not detect my SD-card unless it is allready in the PC when restarted/rebooted. Once pulled out it seems like the slot freezes.

Cards are perfect on other systems, PC is NEW, all required drivers are installed and updated and working properly according to windows 7

The card reader is a built-in reader in a cooler master silencio 550.
I have a ASUS P8P67 De luxe Mainboard with the latest BIOS flashed version 2001

OS = Windows 7 professional sp1, 64bit

When a SD-Card is inserted after booting it appears as "RAW" removable disk in Diskmanager and the slot cannot be used anymore.

Does anyone have the solution?

Is this an SD card or an SDHC card?? Could be that you are trying to read an SDHC card in an SD card reader. That will give you the problems you are experiencing.

Both SD cards and SDHC cards work perfectly, if inside the slot when PC is powered up.

Made a clean intstall again. Problem seems to be a related to incompatible (with windows 7, 64 bit) backup software.
