Scrambled sentences due to random caret movement

Specs: Windows 7, i7/8 gigs
The caret that shows where I'm typing keeps jumping around my screen as I type.
I'll look up to find the sentences all scrambled because bits and pieces of text are
inserted in random places. Then I have to delete the odd parts to put the sentence
back together, move the caret to the end, and re-type what was misplaced.
This happens no matter the speed at which I type.

Don't you mean the cursor. This is a caret ^ A small inverted v. The cursor is a vertical bar like this |

Try another keyboard. If that is OK then you need to look at the cursor keys, that's the four keys with arrows on at the right hand side of the keyboard to see if one is sticking. Probably the Up arrow that is sending to cursor to the top of the page all the time.

Thank you so incredibly much for your response.
Unfortunately your suggestion was not the answer.
The problem persists even with another keyboard,
and my cursor keys are functioning properly.

And for future reference, in graphical user interface terminology, caret sometimes refers to a text insertion point indicator, often a blinking vertical bar. In this context, it may be used interchangeably with the word cursor. :-)

Grateful Nonetheless,
Taylor
