Retrieve Windows 7 Device Manager accidentally uninstalled

October 13, 2013 at 19:22:54
Specs: Windows 7 (64)
How do I go about reinstalling my Device Manager without reinstalling Windows in its entirety. It is blank at present. It was unintentionally uninstalled; as a result my 3-in-1 printer will no longer scan into my computer although it still shows in Devices and is capable of printing from the computer' or scanning independently. Obviously, without the Device Manager the computer is incapable of recognizing USB hardware (like another USB printer) although the monitor, and mouse pad work OK.

From START--RUN type in HDWWIZ and then OK to do a hardware scan.

Or if anything at all shows in device manager you can try this:

Or you should be able to do a scan in 'hardware and sound' in control panel.

Or you can try a system restore, choosing a date from before all this happened.

That should do it.
I did not know you COULD uninstall Device Manager since it is a critical part of Windows. I guess that will be the next Windows Update to prevent this.

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.
