Retaining old email address in Windows 7

September 10, 2010 at 14:38:00
Specs: Windows XP
My Outlook Express email address is jjomes@tds.net. I've installed Windows 7 and Windows Live Mail but it forces to open a hotmail like account which will not accept my old email address. This is very inconvenient because all my contacts have the old email. If I want them to still contact me I am forces to communicate to them a new email address. Is there anyway to use my old Outlook Express email address in a hotmail like environment? Perhaps an alias address within hotmail?

See if the live mail in windows 7 would be useful.

Why did it take me over a year to phone in a problem to ATT?

Why do you think that Windows Live Mail forces you to use a "hotmail like account"? It asks you for your email address and password. You can use the one you have. I have Windows Live Mail set up using my old address and it works fine.

If it gives you trouble, try Mozilla Thunderbird instead. it works just like outlook as far as email. And its free.

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.
If all else fails, read instructions.
