Specs: Windows 7, i5 460M 2.53GHz / 2 gigs
my 6 month acer aspire 4745G bundled with genuine w7 is slowing down, and i'm thinking about to restore my lappie to factory default

the problem is will the genuine w7 erased after restoring to factory default ?

i've tried to search in some forums about this prob, but no success
so for the worst, i've tried to search for some copy of w7 HP, but still no luck

so, any help would be appreciated

Hi There.
If you restore your PC back to factory using the Acer recovery software you will not lose your genuine copy of 7, what you will lose is all your personal data so I would suggest you back that up first. To recover your PC to factory default you either press ALT + F10 on startup or just press F8 and then load Acer recovery console.

Performing a factory restore should be your last choice. Good computing practices should be developed.

First of all, do not automatically let everything that wants to install on you computer do so. Read the screens and un-check the items you don't need or want.

One that same note, do not have every program start up when you boot your computer.

Use common sense on where you go when on the internet.

Use one good firewall and one good antivirus program and keep them up to date.

Use a good malware program regularly.

Use a program to clear the temp files, cookies, etc on a regular basis.

I've tried to reformat my windows drive, erasing unneeded program and files 2 times, if i'm not wrong...I also defrag my laptop regurally
but still the system is slowing down ( <80% RAM used even i'm not running any program or whatsoever ) even after reformatting, it still like that
I'm bearing to use it almost 2 month, but it's more and more annoying everyday..

so I think it's time to restore it to factory default..
but anyway, thank for the answer OtheHill
