restore dell image to non-dell

Specs: Windows XP
Changed system from Dell Windows XP Pro to Custom Windows 7 Pro and need to use an image file from the XP machine to the Windows machine. Can this be done?

Please explain what type or 'image file' you mean. If you are taking about image as in picture then there is not problem at all. If you are talking about a 'drive image' of the XP's main drive, you will be able to put it into a separate drive or partition and access files, but you will not be able to boot from it. The same applies if you want to move the entire original hard drive and put in in as a second hard drive to transfer files, then wipe it for more storage space.

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.

A dell system supplied by dell for their computer is not going to be able to be switched. It will know that the hardware is changed and won't activate it.

1/3 of highway deaths are caused by drunks. The rest are by people who can't drive any better than a drunk.
