When you made those changes you should have read the screens. Every one wants you to use them as the home page. You need to decline by unticking boxes.

When in FireFox click on Tools> Options> general tab. Select "show my home page" then below that be sure the home page address is listed in the address box.

It is probably in your AIM settings so if you look there, you should be able to change the initial page AIM opens your default browser to. As far as AIM starting when Windows starts, just start msconfig and go to the start tab and uncheck AIM in there, That way it will only start when YOU want it to start. Your home page is not effected because any program can open a particular page in your default browser (any browser) if that is what it is supposed to do. If you click on a link in an email document it opens to their page, not your home page for the same reason.
I hope that this makes it easier for you to understand what is happening as well as manage the problem. I feel that we should be in control over our computers, not everyone else out there.

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.
