Programs won't open on startup

August 18, 2011 at 12:13:33
Specs: Windows 7, 2G
I was trying to get my automatic updates turned on. A menu of items came up and it was said that you can turn on or off some of these so that on startup they won't be asked to open. The idea being a faster opening. I thought I did not touch it. But, I guess I turned everything off. Now many things don't work, little messages come up and say this or that is not connected. How can I get back to that window and turn everything back on? Even my internet is not working on that machine.

If you mean programs on startup do this if not ignore it

windows icon bottom left then type run in the search box then enter
In the box that opens type msconfig then ok
then along the top of the system configuration box click startup and click/unclick what you want/need

Usually i only allow antivirus and untick the rest but others have different ideas.

Even my internet is not working on that machine.

You obviously have malware issues.
to access the internet on the problem pc...open internet explorer, click on tools/internet options/connections/Lan Settings and then uncheck use proxy server.

Try a full scan with malwarebytes

and fix all it finds
