Problems multibooting Windows 7 & Ubuntu

Microsoft Windows 7 ultimate 64-bit
June 29, 2010 at 17:55:22
Specs: Windows 7
I recently downloaded Ubuntu and had planned on putting it on my desktop pc on a seperate hdd than the one I had 7 on. I have 7 installed on a 750gb hdd and previously to that I had Vista on a 75gb hdd. I installed 7 straight to the 750gb hdd, or so I had thought. But apparently (windows once again does something absolutely retarded) 7 decided to put the boot files on the 75gb hdd. So now if I delete everything off that hdd for Ubuntu I can't boot 7. Is there any way, without having to reinstall 7, that I can move the boot files and get 7 to boot straight from the 750gb hdd?

I don't think you can move them, it's one of the things they don't
tell you about when installing Win7 (or Vista). You could try
unplugging the slave drive and then boot from the Win7 disk and
see if it will repair the boot-up. I haven't had a chance to see if
this would work as I've only come across the problem a couple of
times in the past, so if it does can you please post back & let
me/us know?

Actually that is exactly what I did earlier today. I had tried using command line and all sorts of other fixes and had no luck so after sleeping on it I came up with exactly what you stated above. It was a very easy fix, like you said just unplugging the drive that the system was booting off of (both of my drives are SATA so there is no slave) and then just running the startup repair on 7. It made it so that 750gb hdd was both the system and boot drive. To me that seems like the easiest way to fix the problem
