Is this mystery program a closely guarded secret? or did you not mention it because it's pirated?

How are you merging the file?

There is no need to actually open the file. Right click and select Merge.

What is the error you are getting?

Make sure the Reg file is in the correct format. The first line of the reg file should say "Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00" Anything else and it is for a pre XP version of Windows.

No, maybe it's a user problem, then again maybe it is the OS, it's pirated, right? Why haven't you told us the name of the program? And why would you need to edit the registry to get it to work unless it's pirated too?

"Or something like this".

Ok how about the exact error message?

When you run a .reg file it usually asks if your sure you want to run it, which sounds more like what it's really saying, and this is perfectly normal. Please post exactly what it says. Also, please post what the error message says.
