Problem with Internet connection

May 26, 2013 at 07:38:14
Specs: Windows 7, 4 gb
I have come across a problem with the internet connection on a desktop pc ( win 7 ).
No matter which browser I use I can not connect to websites.
I pinged my gateway and sometimes get a reply , sometimes get no reply, and sometimes get
1 or 2 out of 4 replies.

I tried the c:/resetlog txt command and the netsh winsok reset command ( as admin ) as I was
sure that renewing these would solve the tcpip and winsok problems but even though I got positive replies it did not help and the problem still remains.

Web pages will not load and if they do load it is only after a very long time.

Any suggestions would be most welcome.

Are you connecting wired or wireless?
Have you tried resetting the router?
Did the connection ever work?

Its a wireless connection and the router and modem have been reset numerous times.
The connection did work and was good - I have 3 other computers using the connection
and no problems with them.

you may want to replace the PCI network card, sounds like the old one is dying.

I am using a new USB wifi adapter. Was using a dlink network card before and thought
that was the problem but apparently is isn't and the card is still ok.

I am pretty sure that something in the OS is the cause of the problem but I dont have
a clue what. Network diagnostics cant find the problem.
