Problem using USB devices after Win 7 upgrade

Specs: WIN-7 ultimate, 2 GB
I have upgraded my pc to windows-7 ultimate.

I am unable to connect my USB Pendrives, digital cameras etc. Whenever I connect these devices it says "Device Driver software was not successfully installed" . After giving this message sometimes the device is detected in My Computer & sometimes it is not detected.

I have noticed one more thing that if I plugged the device & restart the computer it is detected properly, but if i remove the same & re-plug it will not be detected.

My sony digital camera is also not being detected.I tried to find latest drivers from sony website but it says that windows 7 drivers are latest.

Previously in win-xp all this devices were working properly.

Some usb devices ought to require the admin user password. Do you log on to a standard user and have an admin user with a password?

My current login has admin rights and i have also tried it using administrator id. I think there is some other issue ? Can it be due to firewall or antivirus ?. I am using comodo firewall & nod32 antivirus.

Previously in WIN-XP also I was using the comodo firewall & nod32 but it was detecting OK under XP.

Download and install the latest motherboard chip set drivers for your motherboard. If Windows 7 drivers are not available then use Vista drivers.

Did you install over the top or a clean install?

Try to connect the pen drive to another USB port on the M/B. My new M/B acts stupidly as regards usb flash disks. I have to try different ports for the flash disks to operate.

Your USB chip may share IRQ# with another component and therefore acts stupidly.

Maybe install the drivers under the XPMODE or called for older Operating Systems, older then Windows7.Seen something in Microsoft Website was reading it.Probly the only fix that there is.Good luck with that.My errors i get are from using this usb keyboard & usb mouse.I do have a port for older keyboards to be used. And i though it was just great to have plug & play from XP Pro years.

Inforum

Generally speaking you don't want to use WinXP drivers with Windows 7.
