Printer permissions for redirected printer

Specs: Windows 7
Hi all,

I have a local PC which i work on with a printer attached fine with 2 trays but i also need to remote to a second PC elsewhere (both Windows 7) which i can do fine but the redirected printer settings on the remote PC are all grayed out and has removed the 2nd tray etc. I am in the administrator group on the remote PC and am able to unlock the settings by going into the printer properties > security tab and adding the Manage this Printer setting and making myself owner of the printer but don't want to be doing this every time i logon, does anyone know any fix for this?

I have another couple of staff who work the same and in the same situation so any help would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers,
Matt.

How is the printer connected to the remote PC, IE. USB, networked, etc? What do you mean redirected printer settings?

Hi THX 1138

The printer is connected to my local PC via USB and follows me through to the remote desktop PC where it is displayed as HP Laserjet P2055 (Redirected from hostname). I have full permissions to manage the printer on my local PC but once i remote onto the other PC which i am an administrator on i do not have manage printer permissions to add 2nd tray's etc.

Cheers

Have you added the printer under your profile while logged into the other computer? Not remotely, but actually seated at the system?

No not done this as the PCs are not on the same domain. The remote PC is on a domain but the local PC i use to remote on with the printer is on a workgroup at a remote site so no way i could add the printer from the other PC.

Thanks
