print jobs hang or disappear

July 20, 2014 at 05:13:30
Specs: w7, x86-64
Often what happens, is that when I print, some jobs are sent to the queue, but they won't be printed.

Printer is connected, active, all OK

The status in the queue remains "Printing"

Also, for some unknown reason, I have different icons for my same printer now (Copy 1, Copy 2 and Copy 3). It doesnt seem to make much of a difference which one you choose.

Often ALL of them work, either all of them don't.

There's no error anywhere displayed. It feels like some jobs don't even make it to the queue, and are just never printed either.

No error whatsoever is displayed, also not when restarting computer afterwards. Jobs remain in queue though, after restart of OS.

I have no clue what makes it work again, no clue why it doesn't work. That's my question : what is happening here.

The printer is a scanner/copier/printer

Hi there.

Would have been helpful if you posted the model or even just the brand of printer.

I suggest you download the software removal tool for your printer. I can't be more specific without the model.

Remove ALL the copies of that printer from the devices and printers list. Then run the removal tool and reboot. Then start all over installing the printer according to the manual.
