Try "run as Administrator" when starting regedit from a user account. Without Administrator credentials you are not going to be able to edit the registry.

nothing that requires admin password can be found. So i can't launch regedit as admin as it can't be found, while i can launch regedit as normal user. I can't launch system restore cause that also needs admin password so that can't be found too. so can anyone please tell me how to system restore or factory reset without requiring admin password

the only things you can do is drop in a win 7 dvd and follow as an installation, then do an upgrade, that should allow you to create a new admin account..and should save all your files.
alternatively save all your files and do a factory restore, this will take only a couple of hours, if you have a system image, rather than going insane trying to find an answer to a question that may lead you to lose all your files..idea, dont mess with the registry unless you know absolutely what your doing.

i hate computers!
but cant help myself....
