pc will not power up

April 30, 2011 at 11:06:32
Specs: Windows 7
I walked away from my pc, leaving it on, to have dinner, when I returned it was off and would not turn on. I open case and push power button, the case fan and cpu fan twitch, but pc didn't come on. I suspected psu was bad so I replaced it with a Corsair TX650w. Nothing changed, fans twitch when power button is pushed and nothing, no beeps, no nothing, so I took it to a pc shop and they said the psu was good, it was a bad mobo. I installed a new Asrock P43DE3. Nothing changed, push power button fans twitch and nothing. I don't think it is the power button, if it was fans wouldn't even twitch. What else could it be, bad memory or ?

Disconnect the wire to the switch from the mobo. Then use a small screwdriver to short the 2 pins on the switch. Touch the 2 pins briefly, don't hold it there. This will tell you if the switch is bad or not.
