Microsoft Windows 7 home premium upgrade...

Specs: Windows 7, amd 64x2 4gb
Machine not used for 3 months. First time turnoff win 7 stated it was downloading 22 updates. Next turned on, win 7 stated it was completing updates. Worked OK. Next turn on, it will not boot. Win 7 upgrade disk from vista spins, but nothing happens. Monitor stays asleep. Fan runs. Start button stays lit.

If you can't boot to a known good dvd then you may have a hardware issue. Diag the hardware.

Do you see video when you first start the computer? If not, then it has nothing to do with Windows.

You didn't update the BIOS did you?

Did you check boot order to DVD before hard drive? Did you "hit any key to boot from CD/DVD"? Do a repair/system restore.

Try F8 at boot up and select "last known good configuration".

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.

Good news. Apparently I fixed it by holding the start button for 30 seconds. It shut itself down, so I restarted it, and it is working OK (for now). Thanks for your thoughts
