hi there, yesterday i bought a new computer with 500gb hard disk, initially i partitioned 125gb for system and rest is unallocated and installed. then after completely installation i do another partition of 100gb and remaining is unallocated.i think 125 is huge for system.
How much do i partiton complete hd memory and also how to reduce system drive memory?
A hard drive is storage not memory.
125GB for W7 is a reasonable amount, I wouldn't be looking to reduce it. By the time you install more programs, get Windows updates, security patches, and acumulate system restore points, you will be amazed how quickly space gets used up.
You need to look at the longer term, not just what you need today.
but i think when i defrag after installing so many prog and apps it would take huge time?
defrag happens in the background with win 7, you will not need to run a defrag any more, and with new computers its pretty fast anyway, 125gb, seems a lot but it will fill up before you know it,
i advise you to make a win 7 backup, repair disk and a system image on ither the d: partition or an external drive, i am sure it will save many problems in the future.
win 7 is very different in many ways to older OS's, try to drop your older learning and spend some time learning how win 7 works, many things are much simpler and you need far less 3rd party apps.i hate computers!
but cant help myself....
