PAGE FAULT when booting windows 7 (Lenovo laptop)

Specs: Windows 8, Intel i7-5500 @ 2.4 GHZ/ 8gb ram

I'm trying to boot and install windows 7 on my lenovo touchpad running windows 8 at the moment. I'm booting from an external dvd drive because the thinkpad doesn't have an internal drive. It will start the boot process and load the windows files, then throw an "Your PC ran into a problem and needs to restart. We're just collecting some error info, and thne you can restart (0% complete) PAGE FAULT IN NONPAGED AREA (WimFsf.sys)" error.

I've tried booting from a USB drive as well and get the same results. I need to load windows 7 on 5 machines and only one has worked fine. I'm assuming it's a memory issue, but I haven't seen this error before when booting. Any tips?

If you're getting that above error message, that's a blue screen error, which means you're booting to Windows and not to the DVD drive. What do you have selected as the boot order?
