OS Recovery disk Errors

May 3, 2013 at 17:32:11
Specs: A1T85UAR#ABA
I ordered recovery disks from HP to restore my notebook back to factory settings. 1st set of disks received, 1 disk was corrupt, so HP sent another; 2 Recovery disks + driver installation disk. After Recovery + driver completed & auto restarted, I see the Factory OS loading which changed from Windows home premium 64 bit, to Windows home basic 32 bit. I was surprised to find out about it, then a msg pops up with, "recovery attempt has failed, select one of the following: save log, details, or retry" I Retried a dozen times & got the same msg. Sure hope someone is familiar or can steer me in the right direction with this problem. I haven't got much support from HP since my warranty expired.
Thank you,

Apparently, that was the wrong recovery CD. Try F11 at boot time. That should work.

How do you know when a politician is lying? His mouth is moving.

Unless this is a new hard drive, you should have a built in recovery partition already on your original hard drive to do the factory restore from.
Look here:

If you are recovering to a new hard drive and they sent you the wrong recovery disk set, contact them for the correct set.

Whenever someone has a problem with a system restore or factory restore, I generally recommend testing the machine's memory (RAM) with a CD you prepare with Memtest on it and another with the hard drive utility from your hard drive mfg. (Seagate, WD, etc.) to be sure that your problems are not caused by one of these before going further.

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.
