I have installed windows XP on a Separate partition on hard drive which was havin win 7 on C drive.I want to boot my pc from both OS.

I have tried running EasyBCD free version with .NET 2.0 framework, but it is not working, as I have seen in most of the content that I can use EasyBCD to fix the dual boot problem but since this is not working is there any other way or free software by using which I can fix this problem.

Are you trying to run EasyBCD from XP? I believe that it only works with Vista and Windows 7.

It sounds as if you have overwritten the Windows 7 boot loader by installing XP. Do a repair install of Windows 7 so that you can boot into it, then use EasyBCD to set up the dual boot menu.

Thanks a Lot for Replying.

Yes you are right, I had Win 7 installed on my machine earlier, then I have installed win XP so the boot loader got overwritten.

Thanks for the solution, I will try to repair win 7 and will do the later steps.

Make installation disc of Windows 7 and then create a partition in XP hard drive by resizing it. Freeup some disc space, then make a new partition in it and insert the installation cd. Follow the installation wizard and boot up Windows 7 in your computer.

FWIW---it would be easier (and safer) to run WinXP under some type of virtual machine than trying to install it after Win7. Realize also, that your machine may be "too new" to support XP standalone. Newer machines may have hardware that have no XP drivers written for them.
