Do u mean windows update? Or audio driver update? If it's audio driver go to board manufacture website and download latest driver from there (if u have soundcard to go soundcard manufacture website). Don't use windows update.

'Don't use windows update.'

you need windows updates to keep your PC secure. That was bad advice.

Do a system restore back to when everything workded. Then, just download Important and critical updates, NOT the optional updates untill you check them out and see what they do.

Have you ever thought of "checking" the updates before you install them? Sorry, that is not rocket science ;-)

I agree that you should check the offered updates before installing. IMO you should never install any hardware drivers from the Microsoft Update site. I believe that is what XpUser4Real meant.

i was not prepared for this kind of work when i bought a windows 7 machine. my iTunes and Firefox have no sound, but Skype and Windows do. i think Skype screwed it up, because that was the last time the sound was working properly. 30 minutes ago.

this is like hanging out with someone who's talking to you, but all you see is their mouth moving...

...and now justcheck.exe wants attention again. One of the shadiest Windows alerts of all time.

everything back to normal after i un-install Skype...

after every re-start, iTunes works...

but sound disappears again after i attempt to play audio from Firefox or Explorer.

no sound from any source except Windows. classic totalitarianism.

now doing 62.8 MB of Windows updates.
