Hello, my previous laptop had a button so I could easily turn the touchpad on and off. My new laptop does not. Is there a script or a shortcut I could add to easily turn my touchpad on and off? I want the ease of turning it off and on since when I am laying in bed typing my hand sometimes touches the pad and screws up my page. However when I am just watching movies and not using my external mouse, I like to use the touchpad only. I have Windows 7 64bit. Thanks.

I was hoping I could find a shortcut that would allow for easy switching for the touchpad with no luck.

I did find some trialware called Mouse Speed Switcher which may interest you:

http://download.cnet.com/Mouse-Spee...

It doesn't specifiy whether it is 64bit compatible, so you may need to take precautions while you trial it.

Thanks. I did find a taskbar icon that I could click to get into the mouse driver settings. It takes getting past a couple of windows but there is a disable/enable button there so that is better than nothing.

Haha! How cool I just learned in the options if I tap the corner three times it will shut on and off, perfect!

Too good!

Glad you found a solution. Thanks for sharing.

Out of curiosity does Fn + F5 or Fn + F7 toggle the touchpad on and off also?

I solved the problem for HP EliteBook 8460p. The steps I have followed were :
1. I upgraded the driver and restarted the system.
2. It was still not working. So from the task bar find icon for Synaptics pointing device
3. Enable the Synaptics Luxpad from "Device settings" tab.

That's it and Happy scrolling with touch pad....
