How bizarre...

Try uninstalling and installing the previous version 31.1.0 from
https://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla...

If that works then try upgrading to the latest version from within thunderbird.

Even more so.

I may have a particular problem in that on our limited users (not on the computer I am using to do this ) Thunder bird is up and running using four profiles and with some "tweeking" can see no reason all is not well. Therefore ther is an error in my question as the computer Thunderbird is being set-up on uses XP.

It is on the 'administrator' user that the error occurs.

Thanks and cheers

"It is on the 'administrator' user that the error occurs."
Are you using Sandboxie?

Since this only affects the Administrator, this might be a profile issue.

On the Administrator account
1 - Click on start
2 - Click on Run
3 - Type in %APPDATA%
4 - Press OK
5 - Delete the Thunderbird folder

Re-launching thunderbird should create a new blank profile and (hopefully) clear the issue.

This is the sort of step I am hesitant to take at this stage as the profile for the
'administrator' has not been created but the profiles for the 'limited' users appear OK (as does the usual functionality of Thunderbird).

(I am looking to complete the profiles for all users (the 'administrator' is the last)

Thanks and Cheers

Hi

It appears to be the only option left as the two limited users now have the same problem.

Thanks and cheers

"Thunderbird will uninstall and reinstall"
Make sure you delete all profiles.

Hi

I am not going to select as best answer as may mislead someone later with a similar problem.

This all came about replacing Outlook Express (I am far from alone) and Thunderbird appears the best option but setting it up in to mimic OE is a challenge and I now suspect this problem is not directly related to this challenge.

Thanks and Cheers

Hi

What I mean is the way I have been using OE can continue for my principle profile on limited user but won't look the same so I will have to adapt to that with some editing after importing from OE. To do the same for other users and profiles looks to be OK except I will have to rewrite the small address books.

cheers
