Specs: Windows XP
Hi i recently had a problem with my laptop which on getting to the first screen showing AMD Turion badge would not go any further. After talking to a friend they suggested it was probably the ram, so i got some new ram today. After installing it , it now goes to the next screen checks the system and then comes up with
System configuration Data updated
System configuration Data Read error

Press <F1> to resume, <F2> to setup .

F1 does nothing F2 goes to bios and thats it.

Any help really appreciated, pulling my hair out what hair i have.

'pulling my hair out what hair i have.'

Ok chromedome, instead of buying new ram you should have run memtest:
You may have got the wrong Ram for your laptop, did you check it with
to make sure you got the right Ram

Did you get the same errors when trying to access safe mode?

Some HELP in posting on plus free progs and instructions Cheers

Thanks for reply i will try memtest . I searched for ages to find the right laptop memory, crucial never showed my model so i phoned the manufacturers service department and checked with them that it was DDR2 PC2-5300 667MHZ, 200 PIN.
Fairly sure the memory is correct but will do some more investigating now as it seems unlikely.

when you press F2 and go into the bios, go to the last setup options and set to default, also remove any dvd/usb or other peripherals.
you can also try running a flash of the bios, it maybe that a windows bios flash failed at some point.
you will be able to get the bios and bios flash program from the laptop manufacturers website.

i hate computers!
but cant help myself....

Memtest wont run from dvd just same comes up again tried going into bios and load setup defaults nothing again just back to the same.
Trouble is its a medion laptop and the manufacturers website is rubbish, may e mail them. It beeps twice on start up which looking around points to the ram again.
Will hunt around for the bios and bios flash propgram.
