netbook wont connect to tv with my vga cable

Specs: Windows 7
my acer aspire one will not connect to my toshiba tv despite the fact i have a male vga cable in my laptop and a red blue and green cable that fits in my tv (i forgot the name) any help?

you have set the computer to use two monitors i suppose, other than that try a different cable.

i hate computers!

Your TV may be looking for digital component signal through those cables, but VGA is analog (DVI is digital) so you are getting out an analog signal. Check you TV and see if it has the option for analog component signal or separate analog component ports.
Laptops/netbooks that have external ports usually work as mirroring the display without additional settings, but it is still possible you may need to set it active though.

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.
