you can't, everyone has to buy one, not just you.
Use SIW to find out your PC facts about your laptop.

if your system is a real hp and it was bought legally and win 7 was installed correctly, you can do a factory reset which will format your C: drive and reinstall your system to the day you bought it, you will lose all your files, unless you save them first, however it may be that you have downloaded a virus/trojan etc so only save the files that you really must keep.
HP supply a recovery partition which can be accessed by repeatedly pressing F10 at startup. once the recovery options come up, do a factory/full system restore, it should take about 20 mins to complete..

i hate computers!
but cant help myself....

tamdin, you can save files, do a factory restore and get another 3 months use of the free software otherwise you have to buy a office key, as you only have a free trial.

Once your computer is running correctly, you can forget about MS office (and paying for it) and download openoffice.org it is a complete office suite that is free to everyone, it can open MS Office documents and even save in MS Office formats for cross compatibility. During set up you can even set it to be the default for MS Office documents and with a little digging you can set it to save as Word and Excel formats automatically.

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.

I would forget about open office, it is not user friendly at all. Just google to buy an activation key for M$ Office.
I installed Open Office on some client PC's and they didn't like it at all.

It does some things slightly differently, but not that differently. Maybe I'm just a tinkerer, but I like it.
MS office originally was inexpensive enough for system manufacturers to include it with their systems (so we would become comfortable with it), then they raised it but came out with Works (originally full Word and an abbreviated Excel) so personal computers came with Works and business systems came with Office. Now they give us a limited time trial for free and we get to choose from moderately expensive for the basics to very expensive if we want the full suite. With a little time, openoffice can become comfortable, it is free, and it is the entire suite. It can save in nearly every significant format including export to PDF. Add Mozilla Thunderbird and you are done.
My opinion of course.
