What files are you referring to? Normally Un-installl software only deletes its own files, hidden or otherwise.

Normally the only hidden files are system files and they are hidden for a reason as you don't want to be deleting them.

If a file is open and in use you wont be able to delete them. In that case you need to boot into Safe Mode and delete them from there.

Can you let us know what program you are trying to uninstall, we might know something about it be able to help in some better way?

If you really want to see the files then the settings are in "Control Panel > Folder Options > View". It is not so bad to "show hidden files and folders" but unwise to permanently set to "show operating system protected files". One good reason for the latter is that files can appear in user areas (such as desktop.ini files on the desktop). These should obviously not be removed - as StuartS said, system files should be left in place.

In general picking off files is unwise and can cause disasters but I accept there can be reason to do this on odd occasions (program specific) - be very careful though. There might also be registry entries left behind.

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks
