Need to have laptop working back to vista

I need help with my compaq laptop, need uninstall two partitions of xp, go back to vista and upgrade to windows 7

if you still have the hidden partition, HP/compaq supply a recovery partition which can be accessed by repeatedly pressing F10 at startup, that will take you back to vista, if vista was the original OS supplied.

As in answer 1 above, if all you want is one partition with Windows 7 on it, you can just use the Windows 7 install/upgrade DVD and choose custom and then Partition/Format. From there since you already verified you had a qualifying OS installed, you just delete the partition or partitions you no longer want and then recreate a partition for installing Windows 7 on (leave creating any more until after you have Windows 7 up and running and then use disk manager to create any others you need) and format it. Then just install as recommended.
First of course, back up your files to a separate drive and gather together all of your hardware drivers you will need and any programs disks and installers you will want to install when you are done (it make it much easier when everything is ready when you begin).

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.
