My windows 7 doesnt recognize keyboard

August 26, 2010 at 19:15:47
Specs: Windows 7 ultimate 32 bit, P4 550MHZ/2gigs SD2
Im running a Gateway 4300 with a SATA HD (500GB) 2gigs SD2 ram. I just installed a Soundblaster Live soundcard. I have a ps2 keyboard and USB mouse. The keyboard worked for 2 3 days following installation of Win7 and the sound card. All of a sudden, the keyboard just stop responding. I cant get into the bios because the keyboard is no longer recognized upon boot. In Windows, (Using windows onscreen KB) the keyboard is not even listed in the device manager. No trace of the KB exists. I tried a COMPLETE reinstall of windows 7 but no luck. I know that the keyboard works because I tested it on another computer. I know that the ps2 port works because when I plug in the KB, the lights on the KB come on, however, no response whatsoever :/ Any suggestions out there? By the way, I have 3 ps2 keyboards and none of them work. Previously had windows Vista O/S with know KB issues at all.

remove the sound card from the machine and reboot a couple of times.

have you tried a usb keyboard? might help you get into the system and run the chipset drivers for the motherboard.

reinstall the keyboard driver, it may just be a corrupt file. from cd

reinstall your chipset drivers for the mobo, from cd.

i hate computers!
but cant help myself....
