I switched my exterior hard drive over to Windows XP as a test. The files for my
Documents were easy to access. I could Select all and sent them to my
Drive E to be copied.
Start - My Computer - Open your Exterior Hard Drive.
I have a Maxtor Exterior Hard Drive.

If your external hard drive came with a USB connector that had a 'Y' plug on the end with a second USB plug on it, this is for additional power for the hard drive since not all systems (especially older ones) can deliver enough power to a single USB port for the drive to work correctly. You may not have needed this on your newer system, but you may need it on the older system though. If your drive came with one, try using it with both connectors plugged in.

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.
